Former Auburn Tiger Derrick Brown is in his fourth season with the Carolina Panthers and is playing excellent football.
In this Sunday's game, Brown had ten tackles and an interception, which was an incredible play. Brown went to bat the ball down but was able to come away with it. You don't see a six-foot-five, 320-pound interior defensive lineman do something like this all that often.
After his performance against the New Orleans Saints, Brown's season-long PFF grade is up to 85.3, which is the eighth-best grade among all interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
Brown is statistically having the best season of his NFL career based on PFF grade and tackles. Last season, Brown only had 41 tackles. He already has 56 this season with four games left to play.
All these numbers say to me is it's time to get the big fella in the Pro Bowl. It will hurt Brown that his Panthers are 1-12, but this doesn't have to do with his play. The Panthers are number seven in the NFL in total defense, so the offense has been the issue for this team.
Here is a post from Brown giving directions on how to vote for him for the Pro Bowl.
