Did You Notice

• The women's basketball team was tabbed to finish 11th in the 2023-24 SECPreseason Media Poll. Missouri will participate in the SEC Tip Off '24 in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday.

• The athletic department announced it had has hired Kansas City-based architecture firm Populous to assist it in developing a facilities master plan to present to the University of Missouri Board of Curators for its approval. The plan and the conceptual renderings will be presented on Nov. 16.

On This Day in Mizzou History:

October 19, 1895: Missouri and Purdue played a neutral-site game in St. Louis, with the Tigers pulled off a 16-6 victory.

October 19, 1946: In what can only be called a statistical oddity, Missouri picked off eight passes against Iowa State, en route to a 33-13 victory. The record still stands.

October 19, 1985: Missouri came up on the short end against No. 9 Nebraska despite giving up just one touchdown. The problem was Dale Kline made seven field goals in the 28-20 victory. It set an NCAA record, and the 22 points scored by kicking set a Big Eight record.

Oct. 19, 2013: Maty Mauk threw for 295 yards in his first careers start and Andrew Baggett made five field goals as No. 14 Missouri beat No. 22 Florida, 36-17.

Quote of the Day

Oct. 19: "He looked like a seasoned veteran out there," — Gary Pinkel on Maty Mauk’s first career start on this date in 2013.
